- LETTERS, Page 6"Star Schools"
-
- I commend your excellent report on the growing use of
- satellite TV in the nation's classrooms (VIDEO, May 22).
- Satellite learning is becoming the most innovative and
- cost-effective education improvement of our time. Even remote
- and deprived schools, with a satellite dish outside the door,
- can receive the best teachers and courses in the region.
- Unfortunately, legislation I sponsored in 1988 to speed the
- availability of this technology is underfunded this year, and
- the Bush Administration has proposed zeroing it out next year.
- If America can spend billions for Star Wars, it can certainly
- afford a few million for "Star Schools."
