  3.     I commend your excellent report on the growing use of
  4. satellite TV in the nation's classrooms (VIDEO, May 22).
  5. Satellite learning is becoming the most innovative and
  6. cost-effective education improvement of our time. Even remote
  7. and deprived schools, with a satellite dish outside the door,
  8. can receive the best teachers and courses in the region.
  9. Unfortunately, legislation I sponsored in 1988 to speed the
  10. availability of this technology is underfunded this year, and
  11. the Bush Administration has proposed zeroing it out next year.
  12. If America can spend billions for Star Wars, it can certainly
  13. afford a few million for "Star Schools."
